Product Testing Based on European Standard EN14683 + AC Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE).
According to European Legislation (standard EN 14683 + AC) medical masks are tested for the ability to filter bacteria (BFE) and depending on the result, are classified as Type I, II. The average size of the bacteria used in the laboratory test is 1μm.

The new MEGA Black Type IIR surgical masks are regularly tested by an independent laboratory and are classified in Type II of the European standard, achieving the maximum performance, ie BFE ≥ 98%.

At the initiative of MEGA, in addition to compliance with the European standard EN 14683: 2019 + AC, an advanced Particle Filtration Efficiency test was performed on the MEGA Black Type IIR masks * which certifies the effective protection against particles with a particularly small diameter in order to investigate the specific protection of the MEGA mask from viruses with a very small diameter, such as that of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Product Testing According to ASTM F2299 Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE) Standard.
The MEGA Black Type IIR masks were tested according to the ASTM F2299 standard, which tests the ability to filter smaller particles (particles - PFE). This test is used to classify medical masks in the United States.
The average particle size of the control is 0,1μm, ie 10 times smaller than the European standard.

The MEGA Black Type IIR masks were tested by a specialized independent laboratory abroad and the ability to filter extremely small diameter particles (0,1μm, equal to that of SARS-CoV2 particles) was confirmed.
In fact, the filtering efficiency reaches ˃98%!
